Identification and assessment of services provided by the main types of ecosystems in Poland in an application perspective (EEA)

Project description

The subject of the project was to identify and evaluate the services provided by the main types of ecosystems in Poland in terms of application. To achieve this, the project envisaged:

  • selecting ecosystem services and their indicators for the main types of ecosystems in Poland;
  • conducting identification and assessment of ecosystem services on a national, regional and local scale;
  • performing cross-sectional analyses of the ecological, cultural and economic values of ecosystem services;
  • identifying significant supporting and weakening interactions between ecosystem services and important sets of services; preparing a handbook for recognizing ecosystem services for environmental management purposes;
  • as well as activities related to the dissemination of results obtained and the exchange of knowledge.

The project promoter was Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Department of Comprehensive Geography. The Warsaw Ecological Economics Centre was one of the project partners , responsible for recognizing and assessing the economic values of ecosystem services.
