Philosophy of Operation
Goals, mission and vision of the WOEE
We research, teach, advise and raise awareness through active popularization of knowledge in the field of environmental economics.
The purpose of the centre
The primary goal of WOEE is to enhance and promote economic methods and tools for addressing environmental protection challenges.
The impact of environmental changes on human well-being has so far been often overlooked by analysts and practitioners of economic life. WOEE is trying to fill this gap with its activities. We believe that by advancing and promoting scientific methods, we can shift the focus of public debate from ideological, emotional, and aspirational arguments to measurable categories of profits and losses, enabling rational, socially effective decision-making. This is, in our opinion, particularly important in controversial decisions concerning environmental goods.
Mission of the centre
- Improving and popularizing economic methods and tools for solving problems related to environmental protection;
- Supporting public and private institutions in projects aimed at implementing and practically using the results of our scientific research and expertise in the field of environmental economics;
- Demonstrating ways to resolve conflicts between different interest groups in the context of the use of environmental goods that meet the conditions of economic efficiency and social justice;
- Popularization of the use of economic tools in the field of rational use of natural resources, aimed at maximizing social well-being – organization of courses, training and involvement in public debate;
- Educational activity as a contribution to the ecological education of society
Vision of the Centre
WOEE as a research and development centre is to actively participate in the public debate on economic development taking into account environmental aspects in the country and around the world, taking care of the scientific, practical and educational dimensions of the research, analyses and evaluations conducted.
