The history of the creation of WOEE

Pew Scholar Award in Conservation and Environment awarded to Prof. Tomasz Żylicz . Soon, WOEE became involved in numerous local activities, such as the reintroduction programs of the lynx in the Kampinos National Park and the grey seal in the Baltic Sea, and the establishment of the Masurian National Park, as well as international scientific projects, such as the Baltic Drainage Basin Project, an international project, which used non-market valuation methods for the first time in this part of Europe. Educational activities were also developed, both by increasing the number of classes offered to UW students, organizing courses and training, and launching, together with the Harvard Institute for International Development, a postgraduate study on the economic foundations of environmental protection policy.

WOEE participates in numerous international and national research projects in the field of environmental economics. We cooperate with many research Centres in Poland and abroad. The results of our research have been published in the best scientific journals. We support Polish and foreign public administration institutions, non-governmental organizations and the private sector by preparing expert opinions, opinions and recommendations on environmental economics issues.

As part of the didactic classes at WNE UW, we offer numerous lectures, discussions and seminars on the economics of the environment and natural resources. Our employees are high-class specialists who, thanks to their involvement in scientific research and its practical use, provide students with the most up-to-date knowledge and first-hand information about its applications.
